The installation aims to engage the viewer in an informal investigation of the unearthed object in relation to print, and in print. It consists of a set of six wood engravings, each with a corresponding peep-hole smallscape, representing unnoticed, clandestine worlds that have materialised through the collection and arrangement of natural debris. These scapes of stillness, devoid of human imprint, consider states of material impermanence; death-decay-generation-regeneration with acts of instability and transformation, relieving boundaries between object-person, person-animal, and animal-plant. The political act of surfacing the overlooked, positions the private within the public, suggesting informality and intimacy within the formal setting of the gallery.
