Mandala 1: A song of freedom and control

Mandala 1: A song of freedom and control

Feeling squeezed by a complex world, with only a camera to try to bring order to chaos. Seemingly disjointed images merge into one mandalic figure that, just like the ones used by different cultures, mostly Buddhism, symbolizes the universe and it is used to pursue an inner order, it is a protective circle that takes away the worries caused from the outside and that get to create something new, stimulating creativity. At the center of the figure there is the iris of the author, around it there are “high” elements such as architectonical details of churches merging with common objects, such as an iron or a pen. None of them, however, is random, because they all have to do with the life of the author and they invite the viewers to find their own way in society, always hovering between freedom (of expression, to travel, to be a person) and control (the ones of institutions, religion, other people and ourselves).
