Extreme Painting: Framing the whole (Exhibition view)
This installation was presented at Galerie Trois Points (Montreal, 2013) as part of the "Extreme Painting: Framing the Whole" exhibition curated by Maude Hénaire. It is composed of four five elements (from left to right): "Endings", "Slicings I", "Slicings II", "Shavings", and finally the angled wall. The size and shape of the wall are based on the exhibition space which was attributed to me and the angle was determined as to have the wall leaning on the opening on the left-hand side. The shaped boards of "Slicings I" and "Slicings II" are proportional to the angled wall itself with a slight dent in the top left corner.
In "Slicings I" and "Slicings II" blocks of layered paint were cut, trimmed and glued to the shaped boards. "Endings" is composed of the ends of the cut blocks. "Shavings" sets the paint sawdust from the blocks in an acrylic medium puddle on a glass board.
