A Cabin In The Woods
The start of "Modern Primitive" was first sketched, in ink & gouache, then translated onto a large scale canvas in oil paint. After the oil painting is complete, the design is then used to influence the painting of the face and body of a model. The model is then photographed. The last phase of the series is choosing one of the photographs to enlarge on canvass, with acrylic mediums. The end result is a three part series of work done in Oil on canvass, Photography, and Acrylic on canvass.
"A Cabin In The Woods", in the series from "Modern Primitive", was done for the body painting photo series ("Junk Studio") "Dreaded Mythologies" and then translated into the large acrylic canvas. The intention for the painting was to emphasize the feeling of winter in Montana. The changing light and the stillness between sun and freezing snow falls. How home feels with it's changing atmospheres of contrasting comfort and claustrophobia.
