STATEMENT
SPECIFIC SITE WITH ESCAPE ROUTE
Sooner or later the concept of “Escape” involves an operation similar to marking one’s territory again and again: each ‘wall’, or no wall at all, become a canvas on which to project and float light.
“ The Spatial Moment “ of which there are many, seems to play across two facades of an internal membrane, but in reality it whirls towards a central point.
Light seen as “pure communication”; light that throbs, light that changes colour and spills out from the confines of transparent geometric forms. A luminous pattern that conserves its beauty even when switched off; on/off no longer corresponds to a duality of nature or dichotomy, but is instead something elevated to the Nth degree. elevato a potenza.
The object, the end, the threshold of the work: between life and death.
With my LED sculptures I have tried to express the themes and issues I had already dealt using other media: the outline of a shape and what happens when we exceed these confines, how to give mobility to a point of view, the relationship between the interior and the exterior and how the meaning of a piece can mutate and metamorphasize, the backdrop, the reality or the appearance of reality and the actual possibilities it contains as well as the problems of perceptions that are not, strictly speaking, coming from the retina or fruit of a single human sense or a mathematical sum of their parts, but instead a coming together, not merely a layering, of a number of elements.
The bold exchanges between different materials, the matches that ignite the primordial spark are readily apparent as the spectator and the high lumen LEDs rub shoulders with the totally contemporary material, which is, instead, facing the wall.
The electric wires work in 3D and are an active and meaningful part of each and every work.
