SEQUENCES IN BLACK AND WHITE WITH A LTTLE BIT OF RED
They are works made on paper on which I paint- at more or less regular intervals- lines and signs whose shape depends on the brush size. According to a process of rhythmic repetition without of any specific aim I get traces similar to written words (or electrocardiograms – encephalograms) and to the pulses of the unconscious with the awareness that painting is like writing and fixing memories. The following step is the cutting through which I get strips sometimes folded to become sequences that in most of cases are spontaneous and easy operations following a free impulsive structuring combination, without any preview about the result.
So, focus is moved from the result to the process of doing. Overlapping sequences, aggregations and mixtures are born, together with repetitions of fragments, regularly broken concatenations that can endlessly go on in time and space. The strips are freely hanged to the wall with a few nails or suspended on nylon threads according to a process that becomes the trace of a precise moment of a thought or an action.
