This duplex was born after retrieving a devotional crucifixion. This work impressed me the attention to detail, especially in the back and buttocks. Typically, the part out of sight was solved approximately. In this case, while on the other hand, the unknown sculptor oversaw in detail even the crucifix is not visible to the devotee. Interesting choice to leave the cloth slightly lifted showing a part of the buttocks of Christ. This reminded me of one hypotheses developed as a child: for those who were found at the foot of the crucifixion there was a real chance to see Christ’s private parts.
