"Cover me up"
marker on engraved paper
I am interested in working on an idea of surface and the process of its transformation, relying only on a few essential materials used in drawing to push certain formal boundaries to assume a consistency, both three-dimensional and fragile at the same time.
“Cover Me Up” is part of a series on paper, engraved and carved, which draws from an archive of images of clothes, antique tapestries and weaving patterns.
I wanted to make “covers” in an almost exasperated way, composed of dense textures that have the appearance of soft and cozy elements such as curtains or camouflage hung to define a “habitable” space.
