Installation, Abstract geometrical, Wood, 24.1x94x40cm
I specialize in "Bent-Lamination"; a method for bending wood that goes back at least as far as the original "Thonet" chair. I have been doing a series of "Garden" pieces utilizing different molds for the "stamen" and different bases, either soapstone, alabaster or burl. (Each piece also has different numbers of "stamen".) This piece has a Black Chlorite base, White Ash and Gabon Ebony laminae, and either Palm or Holly "Buds". The base is etched full-round with "Snakes-in-the-Grass".
