"Christening, Marriage, Funeral" a Triptych

"Christening, Marriage, Funeral" a Triptych

The Triptych was exhibited in Queens Museum Of Art in 2008, (April -June).
The title of the show was "This case of conscience" - Spiritual Flushing and the Remonstrance.

I presented this work as a contributing photographer invited by Erin Sickler, (Curatorial Assistant - Exhibition Manager in QMA), on behalf of Jenny Jozwiak, (commissioned photographer).

Religious tolerance and mutual respect are hot button issues especially in a diverse environment as New York.

I have chosen to portray the environment of a Greek Orthodox church, as this would allow a dialogue between my self and familiar symbols. I strongly believe that one has to be open minded when comes to interpretation of symbols and symbolisms, especially with fundamental elements such as religion, in order to be able to accept diversity around oneself.

Hence I photographed the interiors of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Flushing Queens with the state of conscience that allows humor to be a vital ingredient of this relation between my self and whatever you may call the Divine...

While real people vanish in motion, painted people stay. Love the idea, the symbolism and the composition of your photographs. Voted, of course.
