I have never been comfortable with the idea that an artist should develop one style and stick to it. It seems that a lot of spontaneity, growth and creativity would be lost with that model. This painting seemed to pop out of nowhere. It appears to be a response to my recent feelings of wanting to paint looser and faster. I painted in an evening, which is a switch from my usual slow development of a work. Every now and then I need to do that. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
