"Waiting" is a seascape oil painting on panel in hues of pinks, blues and violet. The work is so titled for a variety of reasons. Once, when I slept out on the beach by the sea, I was impressed with the relentless pounding of the ocean upon the shore. The sea, then, is a symbol of infinite persistence and patience. I think of the ocean with it’s waves endlessly crashing upon the shore as a sort of an ancient time keeper. I think about days of yore, when people would look out to see, waiting to spy the first glimpses of a ship carrying a returning loved one. And lastly, I think about the return that never comes.
