Mother and I (Diptych)

Mother and I, 2013, one from an ongoing series entitled "Tierra del Olvido/Land Forgotten". This body of work dissects the ideas surrounding family, culture, and identity. This piece explores the internal struggle to connect with the matriarch of our family and the cultural landscape in which I was raised in. In this photograph I mimic this idealized image that I have had of my mother since I was a child.
