1001 Night - People on the Street

1001 Night - People on the Street

Homelessness is defined as a condition in which people have no fixed abode and in public spaces, stay outdoors or in shelters.

We are daily confronted with the sight of homeless people. In metro stations, railway stations, on the way to work or private meetings, in front of supermarkets and cafes we meet with them.

We know little about them and react differently: we are indifferent or touched, we feel shame, resentment and disgust, or we feel compassion.

We look back, look away, give something or simply walk by. We may be insecure. Not all homeless people begging, not all beggars are homeless. Who do we give to whom and why not? Why do people live on the street? Under what circumstances they live, what moves them?
