2015 INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF LIGHT UNESCO - DIFFRACTION
"DIFFRACTION is the breaking up of a ray of light into dark and light bands or into the colors of the spectrum, caused by the interference of one part of a beam with another, as when the ray is deflected at the edge of an opaque object or passes through a narrow slit. Diffraction of light waves has a number of applications in science and technology, including the use of diffraction gratings in the production of holograms."
My work DIFFRACTION is a tribute to the importance of light and light related sciences to the human condition, in tune with the global initiative which highlights to the citizens of the world the importance of light and optical technologies in their lives, for their futures, and for the development of society.
