A phenomenon that is taking place dramatically on Social Media is the "Selfie", the picture-self portrait captured with a cellphone,to publish immediately so everyone can see it. This is a phenomenon that betrays the desire and the pleasure of appearance, to show
something of themselves valued as positive and worth to be shared. Looking for "likes": approval, sharing and compliments confirming the image and the idea that you want to give of themselves. The compulsing publisher of "selfie" appears as the nth fragile character looking for approval.
There's a relation between the pathological narcissism and the selfie because they are parallel events of the same objective: to be celebrated by the fan audience.
If it is or not a public character, each user indeed has his group of admirers to feed with pictures, thoughts and statements of its own idea of the world.
United States has already started talking about of "Selfie-Syndrome" as a particular disease affecting persons worried too much about its own impression on Social Media. Between them we can mention the pathological narcissists.
The contemporary and steady possibility of this virtual exposure of "idealized themselves" combines with the pathological needs of admiration of the narcissists, making possible to increase consents of his hypothetical skills so he can extend dramatically the stage where he can show himself.
Based on many studies, it's possible to confirm that the pictures of friends have greater influence than pictures of celebrities, because the confrontation is more realistic.
