Daruma, as the traditional Japanese doll, represents a deep desire, the will to be accomplished that comes from the depth of one's soul. The woman's gaze is oriented to the expressed desire that she sees slowly achieved as she's looking with her only eye, because, as the tradition wants, only when that desire is completely achieved, it will be possible drawing the other eye, too. No matter how much her soul is beaten and bumped, she will always remain standing.
