Supernova is exemplar of Iranian love of intricate pattern, and of traditional skills in creating patterns. In this case, however, there is nearly always something disturbing about the result - the patterns are in some way broken, or they interlock and create new dimension that the eye finds if difficult to grasp in full. In this sense they can be read of allegories of the disturbances that now trouble all modern cultures, Iranian ones perhaps most of all. They are psychological diagrams, representation of new states of mind struggling to be born.
