The Distant Islands

I shift and restore the colors of the street with natural soil. It is similar to cartography, I am creating a personal map and cityscape. It expresses the power struggle between human nature and the constraint of urbanization and globalization.

I document the city with photograph, yet it is just a virtual image. The soil is a filter that painted on the print, and the texture of the real substance echo with the virtual texture. Photograph captures a moment in time, yet soil is an accumulation of time. I take the inconsistencies between each other as a metaphor of the relationship between nature and urbanization.
