Domestic Somatic #5

Domestic Somatic #5

This performance based self-portrait is part of my series "Domestic Somatic" which explores the emotional impact and vulnerability that rests between close relations in the home, and how the body, as a physical surface, becomes subject to this emotional inscription. Emotional memories manifest themselves in the physical body; everyday life becomes a constant battle between the past and the present. The struggle between our inner and outer lives is being played out in the body. In theory we have moved away from the Cartesian subject, but we are forced upon a populistic reality where the mind is largely marginalised.
