Your face before you were born

The idea of skin raises the issue of our flesh, our body and ultimately our identity.
Do we identify with this time-bound body? Are we something else contained within it, or is this only wishful thinking in the face of death?
So much of our contemporary communication suggests that your identity is your appearance.
If so, as they say in the Zen tradition, what was your original face before you were born?
