Body on Work
I know what the sexual harassment is. I went through all the phases: denial, victimizing myself, acceptance. I have hated my body. I think it collapsed, fell apart.
My pictures, a fragmentized body parts are symbolic self – portraits and it’s a response to that experience.
It is also discussion with feminism of 70. In my works I want to ask the question: what do the old feministic postulates of freedom mean in the world dominated by the glossy beauty - terror?
What does beauty mean in the world of art? Am I actually censoring myself by making series related to the body - issues?
I am also referring to the religious fundamentalism; any form of it that makes body a sexual object, not just a part of human being.
I want to talk about human rights – still limited when a body (female or male) has a political and religious context, and is discriminated.
I do it on a search of the identity, looking for my own form of expression, my way to freedom.
