Installation, Ideas, 150x100x150cm
N people N seconds is a work that requires the active and participated presence of a number N of people. The installation is made up of a minimal amount of material and surface: oil, ash and a dropper. The stratification of the drops on a simple sheet, the variation of a number N of seconds, mean that the slow sedimentation process takes shape, following a precise inclination, in the direction of the equator.
Quantum Mechanics has represented what belongs to reality as constituted by a new structure, and the space we normally know, a viable continuum, has become a cloud of points that contains everything simultaneously.
The subsequent investigations in the field of contemporary Physics, following an ever greater reduction of the constituent elements of the surrounding world, tend to divide the time from the space of einseniana memory, for the negation of the existence of time itself.
With the conviction of having to underline the importance of the element of time as a subjective condition intrinsically linked to artistic production and to the nature of the individual, the installation becomes a moment of claiming the existence and the "materialization" of the temporal subject.
The work consists of a support positioned in such a way as to recreate the inclination of the equator and therefore reconnects the action with the Earth, the natural environment in which the individual acts. Other components are a pigment composed of ash and oil, a dropper, paper, pencil.
Each user can fill the dropper with the fluid available and pour as many drops on the support as there are seconds of use of the work. On a sheet, placed next to the work, marks his name and the number of drops poured.
The work is therefore the result sedimented in a composition that was attended by all well-disposed users.
The count of the users and the sum of the drops paid allows the owner of the work that represents a choral time, and parceled at the same time, a "cloud" that brings the time back to the quantized structure from which it began its demolition.
