mille-feuille
Imagined as thin layers of coloured sheets scattered in the air, then settling randomly on top of each other, creating overhangs and recessions, the "Mille-Feuille" storage series, designed by Emmanuelle, and created by German furniture manufacturer Schonbuch was revealed at the Wallpaper* Handmade Exhibition in Milan. Employing her signature use of colour, Emmanuelle draws inspiration from similar but larger-scale previous explorations, such as her Sugamo Shinkin Bank (Shimura Branch) project.
The colourful storage pieces are handmade out of layers of lacquered MDF and come in three sizes, 21 layers for a multicolor cabinet, 12 layers for a green-blue low cabinet and 8 layers for a yellow-pink bedside cabinet, all containing "hidden" drawers.
The function of the "Mille-Feuille" may change according to the numbers of layers and the concept can be developed for other functions as a low table or a shelf.
