Son Of The Sun
OIL / MIXED MEDIA ON CARVED WOOD SET ONTO A BLACK FRAMED BACKBOARD
This work is part of my Transformation series. All works have clear bands of primary colors that represent pure, fresh, vibrant life energy. In each work the primary colors become gradually mixed and transform into more complex dynamic patterns. This work has seven boards radiating out like rays of the sun. Six of these are in strong colours orange, green, purple, blue, yellow, red, and the seventh is black, white and brown stripe. Behind these boards the colours mix using the Turkish Whirling technique to represent transformational energy. At the centre is the yellow face, symbolising the creative force of the sun. The Son of the Sun is my symbol for human creative energy, which flourishes in complex dynamic situations where primary energies are combined in new ways to produce new ideas, concepts and forms.
