Peace Flower

Peace Flower

Painting, Political / Social, Philosophy, Peace, Ideas, Mixed technique, 113x113cm
OIL / MIXED MEDIA ON CARVED WOOD SET ONTO A BLACK FRAMED BACKBOARD
This work is part of my Transformation series. All works have clear bands of primary colors that represent pure, fresh, vibrant life energy. In each work the primary colors become gradually mixed and transform into more complex dynamic patterns. This is my metaphor for life unfolding. The outer petals in the Peace Flower is made of separate bands of colour to signify people of different gender, race, nationality, religions, ideologies and political beliefs. The red stigma in the centre is a complex mix of colours to represent the melting pot of experience created by diversity, which holds all the petals together to make the flower of peace. My observation is that when differences are used to create hatred of others and create conflict, the flower of life falls apart.
