Interwoven

Sculpture, Memory, Feelings, Family, Death, Glass, 100x10x31cm
In this work I reference floral Transylvanian embroidery motifs. The thread and floral motifs in this work are used as a metaphor for the basic foundations of human existence such as birth, death, love and faith. The shape of the cuff dictated the overall shape of the object. Rather then making a complete garment, or a piece of fabric with a beginning and ending, I wanted the piece to disappear into incompleteness. I wanted it to evoke the continuous flow that I experienced emotionally as I process the death of my grandfather.
