In the bottom of the food chain in the social structure is the individual, and the top is group consciousness. As a result, the ontological components of the individual are authorized by social structure and group consciousness. Blind individuals do not blame social structure for their unattainable wishes. Unaware of obstacles placed by social structures, their desire for these wishes rather intensify. As affected individual myself, while my work starts from personal reflections, it is transformed by social structure of current times.
Religious art satisfies our desire to resolve uncertainty. Decorative elements in religious art provide the viewer a sense of spirituality. I find that repetitive patterns found in temples and churches that expand in geometric infinity provoke sublime emotions. Despite the complexity of the patterns there exists order; Despite the density of the patterns they expand. As a result, these decorative elements go beyond the simple visual reality of formal abstraction. In this abstract yet repetitive patterns, the viewer takes comfort in ambiguous subliminal energy and is empowered to seek self-awareness and to understand the exterior world. In other words, nostalgia towards my primitive and absolute self is portrayed in the discomfort and anxiety brought about by something realistic and rational. The symbolic elements used in my works are tools to evoke spiritual feelings embedded in the mind and soul beyond visual abstraction.
