Interpretation of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
HELL 1 Verses 1-6
“When half way through the journey of our life
I found that I was in a gloomy wood,
because the path which led aright was lost.
And ah, how hard it is to say just what
this wild and rough and stubborn woodland was,
the very thought of which renews my fear!”
Dante is telling us that, now halfway through the journey of human life (our life, not only him), he realized he has into a dark forest, having lost the straight road . It’s night , and it's a full moon night. Dante in the dark forest is found around 35 years. It's a Good Friday (the date was derived from the year of Grace that is 1300 and from Dante's date of birth is 1265. What we are still debating whether it is on Good Friday in 1300 fell on the 8 April or on March 25th . We're still in the vicinity of the spring equinox .
