The composition has been constructed through Photoshop, by compounding and integrating two different photos in a domestic space, that is my old dining room. On the left I depicted myself looking at the boy on the right, Tommaso. I am, however, not looked back at, and this is I believe the key to understanding the work, in that it suggests the kind of relationship that has taken place between me and Tommaso. This has probably been best described by Plato in his Phaedrus, Mann in Death in Venice and to an extent by Pasolini. The style of painting is dated, almost baroque, and it is a regression in the history of painting just like the subject is the exploration of my personal past through remembering.
