Lost identity

Lost identity

A person is looking for something. Searching every place she can think of finding what she has lost. Where is the best place to search for something so personal? Somewhere that has been a hidden place before, her favorite place of hiding things. And here in her favorite place, the truth is being said, the unpleasant truth about herself.

‘Personal identity’ usually refers to certain properties to which a person feels a special sense of attachment or ownership. Someone's personal identity in this sense consists of those features she takes to “define her as a person” or “make her the person she is”. And most of our individual physical features are summon in our faces. And also Mirror’s definition in literature is considered as an object that always shows the truth no matter how hard something is being hidden.

In this project I concentrated on the loss of self identity and searching for it. Also here the mirror represents an emotional and a physical “contradiction” and “destruction” regarding its normal function. And at the end, this project has represented four location of searching a lost identity.

This work focuses on the results of a search. Because I wanted that picture of reflect to be a little indeterminate and normally a mirror doesn’t reflect behind of an object. I took pictures of my digital sketch and printed it on an acrylic glass and attached an aluminum label from behind. And about the bed, under pillow and quilt were places that I used as a child to hide personal things.
