Tennis Between Shots
Tennis Between Shots is the cover image for a book of the same title, written by Bill Allen Ph.D. The original image was created as an oil painting to compliment the series of pencil illustrations, which are featured throughout the book.
The book merges east and west, through it’s application of mindfulness to this popular sport, which originated in Europe and, like the Asian mindfulness method which forms the basis of the book’s tenets, has spread throughout the world.
In this cover image, I attempt to capture the moments between plays, the so-called inactive periods of the game, which, according to Allen, hold the seeds for skillful performance.
