'MORE THAN EVER_a change of plan (burnout 1)'
This photographic work from the 2015 series MORE THAN EVER, titled 'a change of plan (burnout 1)' conjures the immediacy and paradox of photography's representation and meaning in that this image and work in this series can be read/interpreted as either a missile attack or a mere grass fire ! Such is our cultural experience. Quote from Veronica Tello "This work comprises only a fraction of Roberts-Goodwin’s atlas of geographical displacements. A montage of spatial dislocations—Death Valley, Utah Plains, Aleppo, Beirut and borders of impact and cultural/trauma displacement, absent e 'bodies' and 'life' and so on—that mobilize an uncanny, defamiliarizing effect. Seemingly familiar iconographies (the landscape, the desert, the horizon line) are presented at varying altitudes and in seemingly repetitious shots breeding a sense of disorientation, navigational failure: a constantly searching gaze."
