Mare nostrum
Countless streams of people coming from war zones and despair dream of a different and acceptable life, trying to achieve a 'Europe increasingly secretive and inhospitable. Huge numbers of people face underprivileged and expensive trips that become places of collective death, the indifference of the news that is repeated and has no time for outrage and rebellion. mass deaths that recall the executions of Jews by the Nazis inflicted or collective killings of the disappeared in the sea carried out by the Argentine regime.
The waters of the Mediterranean, Mare Nostrum, swallow incessantly men, women and children, faceless, nameless, hopeless.
The ten pictures (each mounted on forex and opaque photographic paper, 20 x 26 cm are arranged in horizontal sequence in 5 cm apart) they belong to a series of ninety (open series) and want to express the need of memory and testimony. Seriality refers to the arrangement of lifeless bodies covered by sheets after they recover at sea.
