Interlude

Interlude

The dictionary meaning for interlude is ‘an intervening period of time; an interval’. In this series I am exploring the pause between realities, the inner space or time that is not bound to time, a sort of timelessness.

Water plays a big part in the symbolism as it represents to a large extent feeling, specifically link to soul feeling and intense emotion. There is a tension between life and death present in these images as the figures are not quite out of the water and either look like they are going deeper into the water or moving through the water. When exploring feeling I am looking at emotions from anxiety, fear, etc to more subtle soul feelings e.g inspiration, love, surrender, intuition. Within each dark emotion lies the potential for deep transformation and through the series interlude I am inviting the viewer to pause, make an intervention and delve deeper into these feeling dimensions.
