Forse un mattino
Perhaps one morning explores the relationship between eye, portrayed subjects and perceived environment, tells about the author’s life experiences, his questions about reality and his vital relationships, leaving speech to the audience. The places he laid eyes on represent the space of the soul, a geography of the inner world, inevitably the South, from Naples to Morocco. And then Mantova, the Dolomites or any other place to which one is drawn by relationships and sentimental connections. In the foreground men and women facing the landscape, talking shoulders dialoguing with the space, with that environment that is a sensorial extension of the soul. The choice falls on his friends’ portraits while discarding images of actors. The soul from behind opens up the gaze, each diptych is a small optic box, guided by posture, physical features, clothes of men and women who look forward, withholding from the lens. They are the protagonists of a journey through space and time, they subtly expand the scene, tear up the screen, breaking and amplifying the effect of tromp l’oeil. They start the rapture of the familiar deceit, questioning the senses of the spectator.
