In Shaded LIght

Painting, Human figure, Oil, 76x76x4cm
My work has always coveted a study of women's bodies, their shape and colouration pertaining a certain amount of realism. Having studied the form I then ventured more deeply into the permanent scarring of the skin and discolouration and the reasons for this. Jenny Saville was one of many artists that gave me a great source of inspiration at this time.
Recently I have been researching the hormonal changes women face throughout their lifetime and the symptoms that prevail.
I hope to show a collective response to my research, within my paintings. Having used more coverage of the canvas to create as atmosphere upon and around the body. In creating the work form becomes more abstract as its immersed in the aura of paint and diverse marks made upon the raw canvas. Thus trying to encapsulate the mood and figure in becoming one entity.
