Here is an installation project that has been inspired by the massive exodus of recent years.
It came about from an inner discomfort, from the need to feel and see humanity inside this tragedy.
It was developed from particular view point:
Figures lined up in a row against a wall, as infinite as a mantra
In short, the small dimension of the figures draw you in to take a closer look.
The absence of land and of a horizon focuses attention on the path in
suspended time and the only certainty is war and so the absence of a unique
face or culture, which focuses on the human being that is on the move.
The scene is a wooden house with fans inside that with a 10 second interval, turn on and turn off, looping, blowing and lifting the t-shirts on the occupants chests.
Here too a mantra of emptiness: still life.
A large rectangular white panel, 2.50x90cm depicting the form of a man seen from the front with another figure lying on the ground.
The suspended panel with the figures represents the environment and reality; the outline of the man on the ground represents dignity.
The idea of the video began with the need to tell the journey of the human being fleeing war, in search of a new life.
Home is one of the primary needs and this installation takes place in homes, neighborhoods and in the environment we live in daily.
It is a symbolic refuge.
The goal is to have a different approach to a very dramatic and disarming reality. To develop compassion, reflection, humanity, action, sharing and welcoming.
