Wrestling in Watercolor

One of my main intentions in creating this piece was to mock masculinity. Wrestling is stereotypically thought of as an aggressive sport, and it is therefore deemed manly. Watercolors are generally considered a light, delicate medium, and therefore the opposite of masculine. Therefore, combining the subject matter of wrestlers and the medium of watercolor creates a sense of irony, making it difficult to determine if the abstracted wrestlers can still be as masculine as they’d originally be expected to be.
