Discarded Objects

Discarded Objects

Installation, Philosophy, Memory, Ideas, 220x100x110cm
I have spent 4 months between Residency Unlimited in Brooklyn and Sculpture Space in Utica NY, gathering discarded objects from people. Each object had to be accom- panied by a letter containing the answers to the following:
Given name of the object
Why are you giving it away?
When did you buy it?
Where did you buy it?
Additional related narrative if available Name or signature of the owner (optional)
The collected narratives brought soul to these expired entities. Every object became a piece of someone’s life. Thus words transformed the dusty surfaces into memories.
Through Discarded Objects, I tackle relationships between people and their belongings. As soon as they decide to get rid of them, they wipe off memories in the process.
