Scraping Through the Embers #4

#4: In a sequence of paintings centred around the life of a woman abused. I created a series of statement pieces in oil paint. Some of which are painted on burned wood. All my pieces tell a story of spousal abuse and the struggles a woman endures to seek out her freedom. The burned wood is her inner most feeling, burning to reach the surface. The red scarf... that represents the blood she sheds in her efforts to be Free.
