Duchenne Ecstasy
In this artwork I interpreted sacred iconography according to the psychological component of the ecstatic experience.
In a pictorial and bituminous oval frame I depicted the face of a woman in ecstasy from a photograph taken in the context of the research of the French doctor Guillaume Benjamin Duchenne.
From one hand this doctor's contribution to the study of physiology is undeniable, on the other hand this research has been carried out with an almost inexplicable aesthetic tension. In fact, he let his subjects assume some poses similar to those of the traditional pictorial iconography and sometimes he called great photographers to immortalize them too
