Selfportrait 12

Selfportrait 12

In order to be realized, the work had to go through two completely different executive processes and the difference between these two processes was purposely made extreme.⁣
I colored the triangle forming the end of the folded paper edge by using a gold marker-pen, ending up creating a sort of arrow pointing to my eye.⁣

The "Sight" is the sense which has always been the most privileged not only in the visual arts.⁣
From the eighteenth century with the birth of Aesthetics has been theorized more about sight than about all the other senses put together.⁣
It should not be forgotten that the Greek term "idea" has a root in common with the ancient Greek verb indicating the act of seeing.⁣
Therefore the act of seeing has always been considered almost a synonym of knowing and learning.⁣
As a visual artist, I always try not to forget the other senses.⁣
I have produced works that are also intended for the touch.⁣
The intervention on photography which is presented in this post represents the attempt to stimulate other kinds of "Sensitiveness" and therefore intellectual Knowledge through what Herder called "tactile eye" in the eighteenth century.⁣
My works often start, as in this case, from a two-dimensional situation and end up conquering the space and going towards the viewer inviting him to use not simply the usual view which reads the two-dimensional image but another type of "vision" that I like to define as "tactile-kinesthetic".
