"To understand an animal's nature you have to see it in its natural state."
-- Lucy Rees

The poster for an upcoming documentary on the social lives of horses, the protagonists of which are very dear to me -- the Pottoka ponies living in Piornal in Spain, a population of some 40 individuals kept by ethologist, writer and horse trainer Lucy Rees for rewilding and study purposes.
They -- along with Lucy -- have shown me the secret life of horses: a life shaped by companionship, for throughout their evolution as a species, their survival has depended on living in family groups and maintaining bonds -- a marked contrast to what is more widely believed by the equestrian community and, unfortunately, many parts of the scientific community as well.

Feeling immensely grateful to have been given this opportunity to contribute with my art. For those who haven't seen it yet, you can watch the trailer here: https://vimeo.com/934710630
