Me-Melancholia
The work may be read on two levels, the words and the figures, and each interacts with the other:
The words: they go in an arc from "me" to "melancholia" and that explains what lies at the root of melancholy: an obsessive concern for oneself, for "me".
The figures: the horse is rigid, the red balloons fly away - that is, the horse as a symbol of life and strength is paralyzed by melancholy while the balloons which are made of pure plastic are moving along. Which means: only inert things are capable of movement.
Moreover there are white spaces: EMPTINESS. And that emptiness matters too.
What is the real meaning of this work? An enigma. A rebus. It is up to you to decipher it!
