"soul-searching"

The work was inspired by a period in the history of the building in which the Galleria Civica of Modena is to be found, and that in 1874 became home to the Patronato dei Figli del Popolo (a charity organisation for orphans).
The starting point is thus the children of the times, deprived of their natural points of reference and securities, yet able to go beyond the reality surrounding them, transforming it on the basis of their own fantasies and desires.
The artist looked for the way to represent the infinite dreams of those who spent part of their childhood inside the building.
The mirror (used as a device by which to communicate with oneself) will be ‘crossed’ by the visitors, who will find themselves on the same level as the balloons, in a new space in which they are upside-down and thus led to reflect upon themselves.
Through this work, the artist represents our dreams, our desire for redemption, the steadfastness in pursuing our ambitions, and in a certain sense, she alludes to the path that leads to the accomplishment of happiness.
