"Conversations"

In a more auto-biographical fashion, Ascari deals with the illusion of ubiquity and disembodiment of physical
affection through a series of Skype portraits, Conversations. During her stay at HSF, the artist’s umbilical
cord with her family and close friends overseas was mainly constituted by daily video-calls. She shot
photographs of her dearest in the very moment when, due to an overcrowded internet server, their features
were disintegrated and her parents were momentarily turned into Bacon-like, pixilated images of virtual
perturbation.
