“Know thyself” within context, whether it be space, relationships or other types of experiences, is the driving concept of my work. “Heal the nightmare” originates as a work in progress following a nightmare I had in a moment of disempowerment. The image of the loss of my hands was a profoundly upsetting experience, and it became essential to find a way to recuperate them. After depicting the mutilated arms I had envisioned, I traced my hands directly on paper for clarity, allowing them to emerge from darkness. When I felt ready, I continued the work reuniting hands to arms. The process was healing. The technique of using two incompatible paints, one wax based and the other water based, allows the process to feel strong, once the luminous hands and arms materialize, the dark substance, from which they originate, cannot take them back.
