EX Corpore

To get rid of the past art must violate its relics, recycle them in other works and deprive them of their sanctity. But has the moral duty to provide them with new meanings just as deep.
I have been travelling for over a year to retrieve the original props from other body artists that I use to exorcize the evil in the world with the ritual of performance. I dress my alter ego with the HIV+ blood-soaked wig of Ron Athey, the pearls worn during Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens’s Blue Wedding happening against homophobia and pollution, Cuco Suarez’s clogs when he staged a terror attack in Madrid and Franko B’s bleeding Kit. With my blood collected in a jar, the common thread that unites the relics, I baptize the work. When I extract the needles from my face the blood drips and paints my face. I so exorcise disease, war, homophobia and environmental disasters. As of mid August I will start again to collect my blood (documented on kyrahm.com) in order to repeat the ritual once again. After this action my alter ego will be left with the video to compose an installation. Live music by Alessio Contorni. The whole research is being documented by Julius Kaiser in the film “Kyrahm cries blood
