"The Necessity of Seduction"

"The Necessity of Seduction"

My last works consists in a series of plush blankets and shaggy carpets I shave off (either with scissors or with electrical hair-clipper) so that a relief, a "furry silhouette", would come out.
This shape is the "image", if the blanket is monochrome, or it interacts with the original subject the blanket comes with to create a new visual pattern.
The slowly act of cutting off, of shaving, becomes a progressive revealing of a sort of inner form, which transforms perceptual vision in a wholly, intimate and tactile vibe.
The aim is that of exploring a sort of mystical materialism that links memory and dreams, that is, the reassuring and the disturbing.
"The Necessity of Seduction", in particular, comes from a scene of "Blade Runner". That movie illustrates how memories, emotions, and desires form the pastiche called consciousness, and how the desire to break free of our confines, whether they be physical or spiritual, defines our humanity.
